The Rise and Shine Song Collection

This song collection is perfect for anyone looking for some songs to start their students' day.

I Want to Rise in the Early Morn

This song comes out of the African American spiritual tradition. The bouncy syncopation in the rhythm might be just the thing you need to start your morning.

Wake me Shake Me

Wake Me Shake Me is another African American spiritual and pairs nicely with I Want to Rise in the Early Morn. If you have an elementary aged music maker spend a few days singing the songs one at a time. Then pair them together as partner songs - you sing one, your child sings the other at the same time. It's a great exercise in musical independence and lots of fun as well!

Morning Song

The Tachi people also incorporated music into their daily routines. These Native Americans who lived in what is now Central California had a series of songs they used to start their day. This song, simply called "Morning Song" was the last one they sang before getting to work.

Whether you have a family of early risers or a family who loves to hit the snooze button, I hope you enjoy these Rise and Shine songs to help you start your day and add a little extra music to your routine.

Enjoy!
